Oakleaf has two types of customers. The first type entails the companies that want to launch a service from scratch and have just an idea. And the other type wants to offer a complimentary offering to an existing customer base to create a deeper relationship and/or generate a new revenue stream. For both, Oakleaf takes a customerfirst approach. On the consulting side, the company aligns to the goals of its customers, as they are always on the front foot in terms of their wants and needs. “Our technology has been built in-house. That’s why we never need to be concerned regarding testing and security. Most important, we have an experienced software development team; our CTO was previously one of the lead developers at the European Space Agency,” mentions Wakeham.
Last year Oakleaf began working with a company formation business that was having difficulty supporting the opening of bank accounts for their customers due to the uncertainty of the timeframes. This can become a real chicken and egg scenario, as companies need a bank account to register for other services associated with setting up a business. By launching their own whitelabel banking platform, the formation company managed to reduce timelines for opening bank accounts down to five working days. This was achieved with much greater transparency during the process and also generated a new revenue stream from transactional services and FX.
